Miti Desai has been interweaving her disciplinary domains of design, dance and education across diverse projects in communication over the past couple of decades.
Formal training in graphic design and professional practice that led her to organically explore the intricacies of body design and design in space as expressed in a classical dance form like Mohiniattam (Classical Indian dance form, from Kerala, India). Several years of training and public performances of the dance opened up a pathway for her to connect to evolved structures and patterns of pedagogical transmission through systems of cultural knowledge, integrating aesthetic principles. This has, in turn, informed her interests in design, arts, ecology and education.
She is the founder/creative head at Miti Design Lab, an interdisciplinary design studio, currently based out of Bengaluru, involved with multiple aspects of design – communicational, experiential, exhibition and social design. She has been recognized for excellence in ‘space design’ through awards in the past few years for her design of major exhibitions of visual artists and the thoughts of philosophers and educators.
She is the Executive Trustee, of Shaktiyogashrama Gurukulam, an educational and cultural centre near Pune.
